The Need for Fundraising:
It has finally been openly admitted that we are in the midst of a recession. I think most of us knew this to be fact long before the experts and the media were willing to admit it. This presents special challenges for Faith Based and other Non-Profit Organizations. As if raising funds for churches (and non-profit org's.) weren't already a challenge, donations and offerings have dropped drastically over the past few months. The Church that I pastor has experienced a fifty to sixty percent decline in tithes and offerings. This decline in giving has been in direct proportion to the financial strain that has been placed on every family that attends, including my own family. This decline in income necessitates an outside approach to meeting the Spiritual and Financial needs of our people. If we follow some proven strategies, the Internet can be a powerful approach at supplementing incomes. We must explore every avenue available to us if we are to continue to reach souls for Christ.
The Purpose of Fundraising:
The main purpose of fundraising is to provide for certain needs. A church needs funds to minister to the spiritual needs of people, but there are also many physical, emotional and psychological needs that are often addressed solely by non-profit groups and organizations. If we cannot fund these groups, many people will have to suffer greater afflictions than hunger or shelter. Therefore, fundraising extends far beyond simply gathering money to pay for projects, it is the life-blood of any organization that tends to the otherwise overlooked needs of many people in our various communities.
The Promise of Fundraising:
Our efforts to minister to the needy are as seeds sown into the ground. They can and will produce fruit. Our Heavenly Father has promised great blessings to those who are willing to participate in ministering to others. There are basically two areas of ministry that we are concerned with:
I. Temporal Needs
1. Physical
2. Psychological
II. Eternal (or everlasting ) Needs
1. Spiritual
A. Body
a. Temporary dwelling for the Soul
B. Soul
a. Mind
b. Will
c. Emotions
C. Spirit
a. God's Life force within each person
It is most often necessary to minister to a person's Physical needs before they are willing to accept help for their Spiritual needs.
